On December 1, 2023, the Documentation Center of the ABEL Community in Grand-Bassam received a visit from the Semlex subsidiary, Semlex Ivory Coast, and representatives from Semlex For Education. This initiative is part of Semlex IC’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and digital inclusion.
Residents of Sud-Comoé, especially those in Grand-Bassam, who frequent the multimedia room at the Documentation, Research, and Training Center (CDRF) of the ABEL Community, will benefit from enhanced resources to support their learning through a donation of computer equipment from Semlex Ivory Coast and Semlex For Education.
In an increasingly connected world, access to technology has become essential for personal and professional success. Semlex Ivory Coast and Semlex For Education recognize this reality and are actively committed to bridging the digital divide: “In our increasingly connected world, access to technology has become essential for personal and professional success. Unfortunately, many individuals and communities lack the means to acquire the necessary tools to connect and thrive in this digital era.”
Leone De Vita, General Manager of the ABEL Community, expressed gratitude to Semlex Ivory Coast and Semlex For Education for this commendable gesture and expressed the desire to establish a long-term partnership for the benefit of populations in need.
The multimedia room of the ABEL Community plays a crucial role in supporting the education and training of the youth in Grand-Bassam. Its objective is to introduce learners to the use of computer tools such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This learning center is not only intended for young students but also for adults from various social strata. It also contributes to the promotion of distance learning, in collaboration with the Virtual University of Ivory Coast (UVCI).
To date, the multimedia room in Grand-Bassam remains the only support space for UVCI students in the entire Sud-Comoé region. Adapting this space becomes essential to better meet the growing demands of the community.
