At Semlex For Education, we believe in second chances and in everyone’s ability to write a new story. That’s why we have chosen to support Collectif Désistance, a Brussels-based non-profit organization that facilitates the social and professional reintegration of young prisoners and former inmates aged 18 to 30. By focusing on the concept of desistance – the process of moving away from delinquency – Collectif Désistance helps these young people rebuild their lives and avoid reoffending by offering them meaningful opportunities and concrete alternatives.

An Innovative and Restorative Approach for a Better Future

Collectif Désistance adopts a comprehensive and integrated approach based on an educational and restorative vision. The period following release from prison is a critical time when the risk of relapse is high, often due to a lack of opportunities and support. This is why the organization offers personalized support during and after detention, helping young people define a personal and professional project that promotes their sustainable inclusion in society. This innovative approach encourages them to activate their potential and build a positive future by fostering resilience and strengthening social bonds.

A Partnership for a Dedicated Reintegration Center

To successfully reintegrate, these young people need concrete solutions, trustful relationships, and a welcoming place to support them. Semlex For Education is partnering with Collectif Désistance to help launch a reception center dedicated to continuous support for young people, from their release from detention to their successful integration into training, employment, or other life projects. This partnership reflects our commitment to offering these young people a genuine opportunity to rewrite their stories and become positive contributors to society.

By supporting Collectif Désistance, Semlex For Education actively participates in preventing recidivism and building a more inclusive future for all.
